The 28-year-old comes from a humble background. Born to a village school teacher, Swapnil was always into sports.

DAD SAW POTENTIAL

As per a report by Sportskeeda, Swapnil's father saw his potential, and enrolled him in a government program in 2009. After a year of training, he chose shooting as his sport.

RISE IN AN 'ELITIST' SPORT

After years of hardwork and medals, an NGO recognised Swapnil in 2013 and started sponsoring him for the 'elitist' sport that requires a heavy investment.

RAILWAY LINK

His stellar junior level performances earned him a job as a ticket collector with the Central Railway.

IDOLISING DHONI

According to a PTI report, Swapnil draws inspiratio from MS Dhoni, who had a similar trajectory as him. In shooting, he idolises Gagan Narang.
