Ram Navami, the ninth or last day of Chaitra Navratri, will be extra special this year as the Ayodhya Ram Mandir was inaugurated in January and devotees caught a glimpse of Ram Lalla. The Ram Mandir will witness a grand celebration by receiving 1,11,111 kilograms of laddoos in prasad.

Historical and Mythological Background

According to Hindu scriptures, particularly the epic Ramayana authored by Sage Valmiki, Lord Rama was born in the Treta Yuga, during the ninth day of the bright half of the Chaitra month. This auspicious day, known as Ram Navami, falls under the Punarvasu Nakshatra, with favorable celestial alignments marking the divine incarnation of Lord Rama.

Importance of Ram Navami

First and foremost, Ram Navami serves as a reminder of the eternal principles of dharma (righteousness) and the victory of good over evil. Lord Rama's life exemplifies the ideals of duty, honour and sacrifice, inspiring devotees to uphold moral values and lead a life of righteousness.

It also marks the end of the nine-day Chaitra Navratri festival.
