Ola Electric, the subsidiary of multinational ride sharing giant, Ola, will soon launch its electric scooters. CEO Bhavish Aggarwal’s recent tweets which sought suggestions on paint schemes give hints on the launch.
Aggarwal made this tweet just days after he had tweeted that the electric vehicle revolution will soon take place as more states are coming up with their individual policies, just like what Gujarat did recently. As per the state’s policy, subsidies worth Rs 870 crore will be provided for electric vehicles and for establishing charging infrastructure.
Aggarwal recently tweeted that the EV revolution is coming. From Karnataka to Gujarat, 21 states are trying to make EVs affordable by incentivizing them. The company is dedicated towards accelerating the process and plans to bring out the scooter soon.
At Hosur, Tamil Nadu, Ola is building a factory on a 500 acre land. After its opening, the factory will have the capability to manufacture 10 million e-scooters every year. This will make the company the largest two wheeler maker globally.
Karnataka has also made amendments in its EV policy recently so that new investment can be attracted. As per the government’s new policy, investors in the EV sector will receive 15% capital subsidy on the value of fixed assets over five equal annual payments for 50 acres of land for EV assemblies or manufacturing enterprises.
