300 MW wind power plant made operational at Tuticorin in TN

On Sunday it was JSW Renew Energy Two Ltd announced that it has effectively commissioned a 300 MW wind power plant at Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu. Further reports stated that the contract to construct the plant was awarded by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) in tranche X. The technology used in the project is ISTS (Inter-State Transmission System).  

This is the first project of JSW’s collaboration with Solar Energy Corporation and it is also the first Green Field Wind Power Plant. . The newly constructed plant which is operational now will contribute significantly to the renewable energy portfolio, supporting the vision of a greener and sustainable future. The additional 150 MW of wind capacity awarded under SECI Tranche X is located at Dharapuram, Tamil Nadu, is also nearing completion with 138 MW already commissioned.  The current capacity is of the plant stands at 7,726 MW whereas the capacity which is under construction on a fast pace is 2,114 MW and may be assigned by ending FY 2025. 

The current generation capacity of the plant is at 2152 MW. 

Sharad Mahendra, Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Energy Quoted in the statement, this accomplishment moves us closer to our target of 10 GW installed capacity by FY2025. In addition, we have a strong portfolio of renewable power projects, that will help take us closer to our target of 20GW before 2030. “ 

The total capacity locked for generation of JSW Energy is 18Mw. 2 GW of them include wind and solar as well as hydro and thermal power stations. The Company’s present renewable pipeline has been reported to be 8. 3 GW of solar power capacity as for now and power purchase agreements have been signed for 2. 3 GW.
