Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced an AI joint venture with Meta Platforms Inc. to develop and expand enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) services in India. The new company, Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL), will see a total investment of ₹855 crore from both partners.

According to the company’s exchange filing, REIL has been incorporated in India as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Intelligence. It will later become the official joint venture entity under an amended agreement with Facebook Overseas Inc., a subsidiary of Meta Platforms.

Reliance Intelligence has subscribed to 2 million equity shares of ₹10 each, making an initial investment of ₹2 crore. As per the deal, Reliance Intelligence will have 70% ownership and Facebook will own 30% in the new company. The collaboration is aimed at the creation, promotion, and distribution of AI enterprise solutions to Indian businesses as the digital transformation is deepening across industries.

RIL said the transaction does not qualify as a related-party transaction and that none of its promoters or group companies hold any interest in the deal. The company also clarified that no governmental or regulatory approvals were needed for the incorporation of REIL.

The joint venture shows Reliance’s ongoing effort to expand into advanced technologies, building on its earlier work in the digital and telecom sectors. Meta sees the collaboration as the next move to build its AI presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing tech markets.

Through REIL, both companies plan to provide businesses with AI tools, analytics, and automation solutions, helping India move faster in digital transformation and encouraging innovation across industries.
