The BEST project has finalized bids from Olectra green tech to supply 2100 electric buses over a 12-month period in a big push for green mobility.
EVEY, an Olectra green tech subsidiary, will purchase these 2100 electric buses either directly or through its special purpose vehicle.
By the end of 2023, Best plans to have a 50 percent electric fleet, which would include around 2000 electric buses, including 900 AC electric double-deckers. By the end of 2027, it aims to have a virtually entirely electric fleet.
This deal is worth Rs.3675 crores, making it the largest order (Letter of Award) in the history of Indian electric mobility.
During the Contract Period, Olectra will also be responsible for bus maintenance.
These buses can go over 200 km on a single charge, reducing turnaround time.
“We deliver the buses on time and will give the inhabitants of Mumbai the greatest commuting experience,” says KV Pradeep, chairman and managing director of Olectra Greetech Limited.
In Mumbai, it already runs 40 electric buses for BEST.
