The Estonia unit of Reliance Jio has signed an agreement with the University of Oulu to develop 6G telecom technology. Jio’s official announcement states that “the 6G technology will have the competence of 5G technology and new advancements.”
Indian telecom players like Jio and others are already in the process of testing the 5G network in India. The launch of the 5G is waiting for its commercial use in the country. Jio hopes that collaboration of such kind will create an entrepreneurship atmosphere by bringing industry and academic experts on the same platform.
Taavi Kotka, CEO of Jio Estonia, said, “We have 400 million plus Jio user base in India. Its experience has shown us that building high-capacity data transmission technology is a critical requirement, especially for transformative digital services and the virtual space. From such collaborations, we can make sure that we keep growing and developing as a world region of the future.”
