LG’s New Website to Solve Mobile Security Issues

One of the top OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), LG starts to introduce the security updates for its mobile devices soon after they received security related issues. Last year the South Korean company was identified as a top OEM for issuing security patches to its Android devices by the University of Cambridge UK. Recently, the company has announced its own product security site with an aim to be the first point of contact for all security issues related to LG mobile products.
LG states that the Product Security website will publish bulletins and updates ‘regularly’ regarding security issues in LG devices. The new security website will be operated by LG’s own Product Security Response Team (PSRT). It will give information in the categories like security news, response process, security bulletins and security issues reporting.
The new security website by LG will gives all the detail issues associated with Android that are issued by Google and will involve the most critical vulnerabilities listed first, followed by those deemed high, moderate and low threats. The company has also questioned customers or researchers to reach out to them in case they have found possible security defect in an LG mobile product.
“With mobile security issues increasingly becoming a regular part of our lives, it is more important for consumers and organizations to be more transparent and work closer together to stay on top of the rapidly changing landscape,” LG stated.
Earlier, LG revealed its new entry-level K3 smartphone in the US priced at $80, which was available through Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile.
