On Friday, Prime Minister Modi revealed a Rs.100 drop in prices for non-subsidised domestic LPG cylinders as a gesture for Women’s Day.

This will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting our Nari Shakti, the Prime Minister said.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Friday a Rs 100 reduction in LPG cylinder prices, aimed particularly at empowering “Nari Shakti”.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Today, on Women’s Day, our Government has decided to reduce LPG cylinder prices by Rs. 100. This will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting our Nari Shakti.”

“By making cooking gas more affordable, we also aim to support the well-being of families and ensure a healthier environment. This is in line with our commitment to empowering women and ensuring ‘Ease of Living’ for them,” he added.

In a correlated move, sources revealed that on Thursday, the Central government announced the extension of the subsidy to Rs 300 per LPG cylinder for impoverished women under the Ujjwala Yojana for the upcoming fiscal year starting April 1. Last October, the government increased the subsidy from Rs 200 per 14.2-kg cylinder for up to 12 refills annually to Rs 300 per cylinder. This Rs 300 subsidy per cylinder was applicable for the current fiscal year, concluding on March 31.

In another post on X, Modi greeted people on the International Women’s Day.

“We salute the strength, courage, and resilience of our Nari Shakti and laud their accomplishments across various fields. Our government is committed to empowering women through initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology and more,” he said.

This is also reflected in the government’s accomplishments in the last decade, Modi stated.
