Nationwide Lockdown in India for Next 21 Days, says PM Narendra Modi

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, announced a 21-day total lockdown in the wake of Coronavirus threat. PM Modi stressed on social distancing, as he addressed the citizens of India for the second time this week.

PM Modi also ensured that there will be no shortage of essential goods in the country. He also said that the government will maintain the supply of these goods during the lockdown period.

“Today India is at the stage where our actions, will decide that to what extent we can bring down the impact of this disaster,” said PM Modi.

India is hoping to break the chain of Coronavirus which has affected numerous people so far. The count of the total number of positive cases has reached 519 as of Tuesday. The number includes 39 discharged people and 9 deaths, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

During this lockdown, even the state administrations have been advised to keep the essential services running. Hospitals, pharmacies, grocery and vegetable shops are asked to function as usual.
