In its recent statement, Oppo India said that it is planning to set up a power and performance lab in India to focus on improving battery life for its upcoming smartphones, especially when the 5G technology is rolled out.

Tasleem Arif, research and development head and the vice president of Oppo India, in a statement, said, “Oppo India has recorded a 120% jump in the patents which originated in its Indian lab.”

“Last year, we set up 5G and cameras lab; this year, we are planning to establish a lab for power and performance,” Mr. Arif said.

He added, “Due to download of so many third-party apps, users are facing performance power. Our work in the lab will help us further enhance the power and performance of the devices.”

“Oppo India collaborated with the telecom operators during 5G trials to work on improving the power backup to support 5G services,” he added.

The power and performance lab will be Oppo India’s third lab to be set up by the company at its Hyderabad R&D centre.
