Along with Mumbai-based music producer Rakshit Thantry (Keydroid) and fellow city artist Harshad Sathe (voice recording), Onkar Tarkase, who oversaw the mixing and mastering of the song “Sawan Laye,” was awarded an IRAA prize.
At the recent Indian Recording Arts Academy (IRAA) awards, Onkar Tarkase, a musician from the city, created waves with his team by winning the “Recording/Mixing/Mastering Independent Music” award in the electronic music category.

“Getting the prestigious IRAA award is like a dream come true. It embodies the spirit of art and technicalities fusing together and how both support each other. It’s an incredible honour to be chosen by such eminent jury from all over India who are themselves stalwarts. This will definitely work as a huge motivator to keep the non-compromising attitude towards the technical part of making music and push me to keep chasing that excellence through which we can give the listener the ultimate experience of the music,” Onkar said.

For their song “Caught in a Parade,” Ronak Runwal and Nitin Muralikrishna, a different Pune combo, took home the “Recording/Mixing/Mastering independent music” prize in the rock/blues/metal category.
When “Sawan Laye” was released, it received positive reviews and streaming. Its avant-garde music video was another noteworthy aspect. Pune has produced some notable musicians in the past few years; in 2022, rock artist Shitalchandra Kulkarni took home the title.

The Audio Engineering Society of America (IRAA) bestows prizes for technical achievement in audio engineering, encompassing mixing, mastering, recording, and music production. An incredible 1,500 submissions were submitted for these national awards this year across a variety of categories. Renowned Indian radio celebrities attended the award ceremony on March 9 at NSCI Worli (Mumbai), with David Dhawan serving as the main guest.
