PVR Cinemas in association with HP India has launched Asia’s first Virtual Reality (VR) Lounge at PVR ECX, Mall of India, and Noida. Movie goers can enjoy a mix of movie trailers, games and other interactive content like action sports and drama at four such VR Docks or Pods, equipped with technology by HP, located at the theatre.
This PVR & HP partnership will see the roll out of 10 such virtual reality lounges across PVRs in India, with three each in Delhi and Bengaluru. From crouching behind turrets to diving on the ground to avoid strafing bullets to seeing a grotesque image lurking nearby, those few intense minutes will surely keep movie lovers fastened to the HP VR Lounge. Besides the best in class technology, the HP VR Lounge also provides a whole new library of fascinating and adventurous immersive and interactive content curated from various different genres like drama, fiction, sci-fi, horror, action etc.
The VR Docks use HP Omen desktops & laptops along with HTC headsets and controllers. PVR and HP note that prolonged use of headsets could cause nausea, hence the experiences range from a duration of 1.5 minutes to 10 minutes each.
“HP’s innovation in the area of VR is yet another first from us where we continuously strive to provide the latest technology and world class experience to our customers,” added Ketan Patel, Senior Director, Personal Systems, HP Inc. India.
While VR Content is truly immersive, Gautam Dutta, CEO, PVR Cinemas, said that “VR will not drive away people away from movie watching, as it can’t be viewed for more than 15 minutes at a stretch due to headset weight and feeling of dizziness. Hence people can experience VR while waiting for their film to begin.”
