Tata Power and Keppel Collaborate for Sustainable Cooling Solutions in India

Tata Power’s subsidiary, Tata Power Trading Company, has inked an agreement with Singapore-based firm Keppel. The association has been designed to offer innovative Cooling-as-a-Service or CaaS solutions in India, the first under Tata Power in the CaaS sector, designed for enhanced energy efficiency in high-demand environments.

The firm said the new alliance was launched on October 24, 2024, and was designed to bring best-in-class CaaS solutions to major urban centers, commercial and industrial segments. As a result, both large-scale DCS systems and individual systems for buildings will be designed to meet the increasing need for cooling in spaces like airports, IT parks, Special Economic Zones, and data centers.

CaaS offers a unique in-demand subscription model that would allow businesses and property owners to access energy-efficient cooling services without the burden of infrastructure investment upfront. This approach will likely encourage sustainable practices across different industries, which is a push congruent with most international trends towards carbon footprint reduction.

Tata Power’s service portfolio is likely to be enhanced through full-service energy solutions, ranging from supply of electricity to energy management, e-mobility and solar photovoltaic and wind energy, carbon offset initiatives, among others. Keppel, riding on its niche position of sustainability solutions and asset management, will leverage experience and capabilities developed in designing and operating CaaS systems across Asia to make Tata Power enter the Indian market.

We are glad to collaborate with Tata Power as we move in with our innovative and proven Cooling-as-a-Service solution to such a vast market in India by leveraging their strong local presence. Through artificial intelligence and machine learning, we have successfully implemented energy-efficient cooling solutions in Singapore and other regions, and we look forward to that success in India,” said Poh Tiong Keng, Executive Director of Emerging Markets, EaaS, and Infrastructure at Keppel.

The alliance speaks volumes about the dedication of the companies to a sustainable future as well as to growing demand for efficient cooling in India. And with the promised synergy of local insights from Tata Power combined with the technological expertise of Keppel, this alliance is poised to set new benchmarks of energy efficiency and environmental responsibility in this region.Â
