Yogi Adityanath will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President JP Nadda, amid speculation that the Uttar Pradesh cabinet could be expanded ahead of the Assembly elections next year.

The party has also resolved to develop a strategy based on feedback from state leaders and ministers in the Yogi Adityanath administration, in order to improve the state government’s image and tackle concerns in the state.

BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh was in Lucknow earlier this week and held one-on-one talks with several of the state’s ministers and leaders, with the goal of increasing coordination between the party and the administration. Radha Mohan Singh accompanied Santhosh on his journey.

Many of these figures have raised concerns about the handling of COVID-19, public dissatisfaction, and a lack of coordination between government and party leaders, among other things.

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Central leadership, on the other hand, has thrown its support behind Yogi Adityanath, putting an end to criticism of the state government months before the Assembly elections.

The Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are set to take place in 2022. In the 2017 Assembly elections, the BJP won nearly 300 seats in a landslide victory. The BJP has 309 legislators in the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly, followed by the SP with 49, the BSP with 18, and the Congress with 7.
