National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) is introduced by our education minister for the Children to learn Foundational literacy and Numeracy by the end of 3rd grade by 2026-27.
Minister Ramesh Pokhliyal said that NIPUN Bharat envisages making the experience of learning for foundational stage Holistic, Integrated, Enjoyable, Inclusive and Engaging.
The mission which is planned under aegis of the centrally sponsored scheme of Samagra Sikhsha will focus on contributing access and retaining children in Foundational years of schooling, teacher capacity building, development of high quality, and diversified student and teacher resources/material and tracking the progress of each child.
The minister highlighted that National Education policy 2020 has laid down that attaining foundational literacy and numeracy must become an immediate mission.
