HTC to Launch 6-7 Different Models This Year

HTC has been known for launching multiple smartphones every year, ranging from their flagship devices and low-mid range handsets in the Desire line-up. This year the company is expected to do the same, but it seems that they might be looking to cut down on the releases so instead of flooding the market with a dozen models, HTC could be halving that.
This is according to a report from Engadget in which during an interview with HTC’s President of Smartphone and Connected Devices Business, Chialin Chang, it was confirmed that the company has plans to release between 6-7 handsets this year. Like we said, this is cutting it down from the dozen or so models that HTC typically floods the market with in the past few years.
Cutting down on the variety of models sounds like there could be some missed opportunities there, but according to Chang, he believes that this allows the company to focus better on the products that do launch. In case you forgot, HTC recently launched their flagship HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play handsets.
As for whether we’ll be seeing the HTC 11, a successor to last year’s HTC 10, Chang said that we won’t, or rather the handset that will replace the HTC 10 won’t be called the HTC 11, so we guess we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled.
