Nowadays it has become important for every business to have an online presence. Establishing a restaurant in a city like Mathura is quite a tough job, but Ankit Bansal, Managing Director of Bansal Foods has done a remarkable work on his start-up and made the company renowned in Mathura in a very short time. Let’s read how he has achieved such an amazing feat.

What is your vision behind your startup? Tell us how the idea came about.

At Bansal Foods, our goal is to make luxury dining experience at more affordable price with the delicious taste of dishes in hygienic conditions and transforming the dining experience for people of Mathura. When I was outing with my group, I was in dire need of a good restaurant in Mathura which can provide the best food in a luxurious manner. But I failed to find one. That day I decided to study the F&B industry in India and gather necessary information for implementing my plan of opening a restaurant. This is what lead us to establish Bansal Foods in July 2013.

What services/products/solutions do you offer?

At Bansal Foods, our core offering is ‘Luxury Dining Experience with Affordable Price’ for all the people across Mathura. We work directly with our internal team to curate exclusive offers for our website with an aim of providing best quality food at the restaurant dining as well as for take away. We are also currently partnered with many leading home delivery brands and are also running Bansal Foods Loyalty Program for our esteemed customers. Our palette of services includes a fine dining restaurant, catering service, kitty parties, and get together.

Is your company bootstrapped or have you received funding or do you plan on approaching investors?

We are seed funded. However, we are looking at raising funds this year.

As the founder/CEO, what is your opinion on the current landscape of startup culture in India?

I think this is the best time to do start-ups in India. The government has also introduced various schemes for start-ups to motivate entrepreneurs and this culture in the country. So, this is the best scenario comparatively from the past. I believe it is the best it has ever been. The number of start-ups and the pace at which we see them scaling from 0 to 100 is tremendous. In fact, it is something that the Indian start-up ecosystem hasn’t experienced in the past. Having said that, there is a need for more individuals to step up, take risks and go all out for what they believe in. As a nation, we need to be more willing to take risks as it is a quality that does not come naturally to a lot of Indians.

According to you, how important is it to be updated with technology as per your industry sector?

In my view, technology plays a vital and effective role in our industry. If we consider establishing a brand in the market, the basic point now is that everything totally depends on technology. Digital India has played the most important role for nurturing a brand by enabling various online platforms. What technology has done for restaurants is that it has enabled people to access the information related to dining experience they want to have with just a simple search. They can choose variety of options when it comes to selecting a restaurant in a specific location and share their experience and reviews about the place.

How do you strategize on scaling your company in the future?

We are very excited about the growth of our business in coming years. Besides this, we have seen tremendous opportunities and growth in not just the metros and Tier-1 cities but a lot of other small towns so that people can also have a similar experience of luxury dining. We would be taking more partner engagement activities in order to make our brand a more close-knit one for our members and to provide them with more opportunities to facilitate, ‘luxury dining at an affordable price’.
