The people who have more creative, innovative, and artistic talents and abilities than others really do not feel comfortable in setting to the general norm of 9 am-5 pm job. They consider such normal jobs to be ‘just over broke’. They want to come out of this normal routine and start something of their own by embracing the entrepreneurial spirit. They want to work at a place where their passion meets their purpose. They recognize their talents and abilities and do the work they feel more passionate about. Dinesh Kirve is one such entrepreneur who has got artistic talents and abilities and chose to pursue a career in interior designing. He is a watercolour portrait painter. He has won several state level and national level painting awards. He is the Founder of D-zone designers.

In an interview with Insights Success, Dinesh shares his entrepreneurial journey. Below are the highlights of the interview:

Why did you choose entrepreneurship over a regular 9-5 job?

I am an artist and I always wanted to make career where I do not have to kill my passion for art because I have witnessed many examples around me who have sacrificed their art for money. In fact, I can take my art onto the next level and make something productive out of it. Hence, I decided that I will not get caged in this 9 to 5 job but work out of these time limits and I started working independently and formed my own venture/company/entrepreneurial attempt- ‘D-zone designers’.

Tell us more about your organization.

I am basically a sketch artist but when I met my guru Mr. Vinay Joshi in 2015, it was a major turning point of my life. He guided me in every possible medium of this art. Eventually, with daily practice I developed more interest towards watercolour portrait skill. I feel nostalgic thinking about those couple of years when I used to learn from my Guru. In 2017, I had very first exhibition, I feel that was very first feather in my hat. Of course, I have been taking part in many other competitions and won in some as well.

What challenges have you faced as an entrepreneur? How did you overcome them to establish yourself and the company?

I faced few problems definitely in day-to-day life, but major challenges came from within. While doing some work of art, sometimes you do not feel that the work you are doing is best or you can do better work, hence you start doing it from scratch. Working on something till I feel satisfied or happy is the major and constant challenge in my life and I feel it is needed too.

How do you lead your company and help it sustain in a competitive environment?

There are many watercolour artists in the market right now, but I always try to stand out through my art and for that practice is must. I have got some recognition among other artists because of my watercolour paintings. I belong to Pune which is known for art and culture. However, we have very few artists who does water colour paintings. I am one of the few. So, I could earn my name through this art form.

What is that one aspect or emotion that drives you to work or keeps you motivated?

For me, my art is my meditation where I find peace and I feel I will not be able to survive without it. When I see the work of other artists it keeps inspiring me to create more of artwork and achieve new landmarks in my journey.

As a business leader, what is your opinion on the current landscape of business given that the pandemic has been adversely affecting every industry.

Of course, this pandemic situation is very new to all of us, no one from present surviving generations has ever seen this type of situation. Nevertheless, I feel, may be slowly but we will overcome from this challenge.

Social Media is an inseparable part of the daily life of youth. Your thoughts about it and how do you leverage its power for the company?

While surviving in today’s age, no matter what your profession is – whether it is business or routine job you need to have good hold on social media. Hence, I am very active on various digital social media platforms. Whenever I create some art, I definitely push it through these platforms so that my well-wishers and followers can see my work. Who does not like to get noticed and praise? However, people do leave negative remarks and I take it as feedback. Feedbacks and praises are must for any artist and social media platform gives me reach to many people around the state or you can say, the globe.

What are your future objectives and where do you see yourself in near future?

When I think about future, I really feel that I would grow more as an artist and while growing, my company D-zone Interiors should also grow. My company helps me to reflect my artistic side through my work in people’s homes. I am very optimistic about future that we will overcome this current pandemic situation to grow more and more.
