Poonam, who started as a trainee in Lifestyle, was soon promoted to Interior Lead and then to Project Management in a short span of three years. Ma’am, please tell us about the saga of your reputed business since its inception.
Following our dream in the year 2017, started my own company “Design Cloud” which is based in Jabalpur. From a humble beginning, it is now a pool of highly skilled and creative individuals. Design Cloud follows a practical approach to problem-solving, and generates fresh solutions for the renovation of internal spaces, including structural alterations, we are also implementation partners with national design teams. We have been working for major clients of Jabalpur and nearby cities.
When DESIGN CLOUD was founded back in 2017, we were a small team in a challenging business environment, but with a well-defined vision, confidence, and eagerness to grow, we still remain as hard-working and ambitious as we were five years ago. However, now we are empowered with great work experience, polished skills, and happy customer feedback.
What was your inspiration behind venturing into the business arena?
For as long as I can remember, as a little girl I loved decorating my house and admiring beautiful structures, be it a home, a temple, or a hut, I saw a lot of beauty in simple things, it just gave me pure happiness. Spending time admiring the workmanship, textures, and colour combinations was magical.
Let’s agree, that life surprises you always. I got the opportunity to join the best Home Decor firm in the city. When I started working with my senior the way he implemented such difficult designs with so much ease was inspiring. I learned and gained so much knowledge from his experience that he became a mentor to me and I got inspired to grow and be a designer with a difference, to make him proud of me someday.
What were the initial challenges that you had to surmount to ensure your business’s success rate reached greater heights?
Being a fresher the biggest challenge was to gain client confidence in me. a new house or office is like a dream for people so they want to engage the best person for the same. The second challenge was to make my own team who understands my designs and vision and helps me in implementing the same.

To eliminate competition, we need to constantly figure out what is new and how we can do it differently in this industry.
As an experienced professional, what would you like to advise the budding aspirants willing to enter the business world?
The three things I believe can get you to achieve anything are grit, passion, and making the right decisions at the right time. If you have grit you can climb any peak; if you are passionate about what you do, you will taste success; and the right decisions at the right time can take you places. When I look back at my career, there have been many incidences that gave me a taste of success and made me the person I am today.
My advice to other entrepreneurs is to not quit easily and believe in yourself and your work. “Love your work, it can take you to great heights.”

How do you envision Design Cloud’s operations with the emerging technologies and automated tools that are revolutionizing the business world by enabling innovations?
Software upgradation is a must in our field which we do from time to time. We use second and third images, walk-throughs, visual furniture placement, and colour options software to make clients understand better. Also, we upgrade to the latest techniques and tools to make furniture, doors, and windows which we keep improving every day.
We use the latest technology for keeping in touch with clients and our workforce teams, like work-oriented messages groups where we share drawings and the status of work every day. Even our workers use real-time pics, videos, and video calls from sites to save time and improve the quality of work.
