Vardhman Group has evolved over the years into a modern-day textile major under the dynamic leadership of its Chairman and Managing Director, S. P. Oswal. He holds a Master’s Degree in Commerce (Gold Medalist) from Punjab University, Chandigarh. He was the Founder President and Director of Ludhiana Stock Exchange for the period 1983-87 and President of Ludhiana Management Association for the period 1987-1991. He also acted as Chairman of Nimbua Greenfield Punjab Limited, a consortium of industries of Punjab for developing a common facility for storage, treatment and disposal of hazardous wastes generated by the industry with the grant from Government of India. For his extensive contribution to the trade & industry, he was bestowed the Padma Bhushan Award by the Government of India in the year 2010.
He is inspired by the philosophy and writings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. Engaged in the business of manufacturing of Yarn, Fabric, Acrylic Fiber, Garments, Sewing Threads and Alloy Steel, the Group has evolved as a business conglomerate over the years, with the presence in India and in 65 countries across the globe.
Yarn is the largest strategic business unit of the Vardhman Group with more than One Million Spindles, besides yarn and fiber dyeing capacity of 60 Tons per day. The Group is the one-stop solution for a variety of yarn requirements of the leading customers in India and the international markets. Vardhman offers the widest range of specialized greige and dyed yarns (NE 10 to NE 200) in cotton, polyester, acrylic and varieties of blends along with several value-added products. Vardhman is India’s largest exporter of cotton yarn to the most quality conscious markets like EU, USA and Far Eastern countries.
Vardhman is among the few fully integrated fabric suppliers in the country. The state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities producing 114 MN meters per annum of processed fabric and 180 MN meters per annum of greige fabric are located in North and Central India, which cater to the highly customized fabric needs of the buyers. An integrated fabric supply chain, extending from raw materials to yarns and from weaving to processing provides the endearing advantage to the customers.
Vardhman is a leading player in the Indian sewing thread market as well. The joint venture with A&E Threads (American & Efird) of USA offers complete thread solutions from tailoring to industrial applications. With 43 tons per day capacity spread over five plants located in North and South India, Vardhman is uniquely positioned to serve the garment manufacturers across the world.
The Acrylic Fiber of Vardhman is acclaimed for a wide variety of textile applications. The modern manufacturing plant based on renowned Japan Exlan Wet Spun technology produces 22000 MT per annum acrylic Fiber at Gujarat (Western India). The Fiber marketed under the brand name VARLAN has achieved a high level of recognition in the Indian market and is one of the preferred Fiber for winter wear application in the country.
Garments and Steel
Vardhman Nisshinbo Garments Company Limited (VNGL) manufactures formal wear garments for international and national markets. For this, Vardhman has tied up with Nisshinbo Textiles Inc. of Japan for making formal business/formal shirts. The plant boasts of the state-of-the-art technology and aspires to embrace world-class garments manufacturing parameters. The joint venture company supplies the majority of its production to international markets through Nisshinbo and caters to the leading formal wear brands such as Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Color Plus, Benetton, Sisley, Wills Lifestyle and many more.
Steel business contributes nearly 10% of the group’s turnover. The group supplies its products to some of the most stringent quality steel buyers such as Mercedes, Toyota, Porsche and many others. The plant facilities include Steel Melting, Ladle Refining Furnace, Vacuum Degassing, Bloom Caster, Rolling Mills and more. The products in high demand are Plain Carbon Steel, Case Hardening Steel, Free/Semi-Free Cutting Steel, spring steel and Ball Bearing Steel.
